What is kapok?
The kapok tree yields the fruits, which are similar to cocoa beans in shape and color. These are plump with the seeds and hollow fibers, which are separated from the outer fruit shell by industrious hands after the fruit is collected. The seeds are small and round and have an appearance similar to peppercorns. The kapok seeds remain in the fiber mass, which serves as filling for the tradionellen Thai mats and Thai cushions.
